Are you acting as a Creative Director or Receptionist in your life? Who is in chThe Startup: Your life as a business. What's your role? Who is in charge? Who is designing the game plan? Do you have anyone fulfilling the other roles or are you running your system with just one mindset?
Running a life is hard. They didn't tell us how hard it would be, and how many roles we would have to play, but hey, at least we have smoothies and music right? Reality has fun in it too. Anyways, in this life, we
You are a startup
You are like a company that is going to be running the rest of your life
You have to be the innovator who comes up with the idea, the dream, the vision
The partner who helps the innovator turn the dream into reality, the backboard
The accountant to help you plan and keep track of where you are putting your resources (including time, money, energy, emotional space)
The manager to look at the big picture and keep everything operating efficiently
The creative director who adds creative juice to the fire while organizing the vision in an expansive yet put together way
You don’t have to be all of these forever, because after you get a system running and you gather more and more people to support you,
it will be easier and easier to delegate and get assistance.
The hard part is, we usually have to be all of these roles at first because we aren’t always surrounded by the right people or energy.
Once you start thinking of yourself as a startup though, you’ll realize you need to start being around the right people,
thinking the right thoughts, taking better actions, and being around certain energies.
If you can’t be all of these things right now while starting, then ask for help.
Ask people, ask the Internet or a book or video, ask yourself
Find an innovator to spark the innovator in you. Ask them for ideas and then yours will start activating and you’ll become more innovative by watching how they come up with ideas/brainstorm.
Find a partner to bounce your ideas off of, ask them for help with figuring out how to get where you want to go. Soon you’ll be able to bounce your ideas off yourself because you have a voice to go off of now. Find an accountant and run your options/possible decisions by them. This will teach you more of their logic and reasoning which will rub off on you.
Find a manager and see if your system could be improved, see if you can view the bigger picture better.
Find a creative director and paint your vision to them, see if it could be fine-tuned to be a more clear put-together picture. This will start to make you realize how things fit together and how to piece together pictures on your own.
You don’t need to be all these things, but having a deeper understanding of each mindset will help you tie everything together. You can be just one role, whichever suits you best, but then you need to gather help in the areas you aren’t a master in. Know your strengths and run towards them, use them, grow them.
As far as the weaknesses/roles you don’t associate with, you have different options. You make your own mixture based off of you and how you work
You can:
-delegate your weaknesses entirely and focus on you strengths
-delegate but also gradually get perspective from each of those people then switch roles throughout your life as you evolve
-learn parts of each role (the ones you feel strong in and the ones you think you wouldn’t be good at) then choose one after you gave each a chance
-choose to grow all and master all throughout your life and live more as a connector that helps other organizations rather than focusing on growing one, or focus on all roles in order to give your all to one organizationWelcome to your blog post.
